Marius Renner Christensen (b. 1997) is a freelance documentary photographer and filmmaker based in Copenhagen, Denmark. He holds a BA in Photojournalism from The Danish School of Media and Journalism from 2022. As part of his education, he underwent a 12-month internship as a photographer at the Danish daily, Politiken. In 2022 he worked at the Norwegian national media NRK as a photographer and photo editor.
Through documentary photography and filmmaking, his work focuses on personal stories about identity, social injustice and cultural phenomena. He works with ethical considerations at the forefront of his mind and wants to give attention and demand consideration for those he portrays. Documenting the universality of everyday life by including triumphs and defeats is at his core. He is certain that a well-told project provokes empathy and inspires for deeper reflection and understanding of our common existence. He has worked with several projects focused on identity and youth focusing on mental health issues among other. He has portrayed the dominating beauty ideal of South Korea and worked with loneliness among the elderly in Denmark.
He has been nominated for several awards at the Danish POY, Norwegian POY, College Photographer of the Year (CPOY) and Society for News Design for his use of photography, filmmaking and web design.
